How to make jam tarts 8 oz. self rising flour 4 oz. stick butter Pinch of salt Approximately 3 tbsp. cold water. Cut in shortening to flour and salt mixture until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Sprinkle with water and mix to form dough. Roll out on a floured board to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into circles to fit jam tart tin and place pastry in tin. Prick bottom and sides of pastry and add 1 teaspoon jam or jelly to each. Top each tart with a cross made from pastry trimmings. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until pastry is golden brown
